Xavier Morató, PhD Clinical Trials Deputy Director at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona After graduated in Pharmacy, Dr. Morató performed his PhD in the Neuropharmacology and Pain research group in the University of Barcelona.
His work was focused on studying relevant protein-protein interactions, testing potential new treatments using both in vitro and in vivo models and studying and validating the use of novel biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease or Multiple sclerosis. In 2018, he started a new role as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Laboratorios Dr. ESTEVE to design and implement new in vitro HTS assays to facilitate ligand discovery.
In January 2020, he started leading an international study to validate the specificity and sensitivity of a new biomarker for Parkinson’s disease using the ultrasensitive SIMOA assay in Karolinska Institutet. Since January 2021, Dr. Morató works in Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, at the Clinical Trials Unit participating in CT related with dementia treatment. At Ace, he design CTs and other global CT from pharmaceutical companies, participate in international boards to improve CT management and promote research projects to validate novel biomarkers for an early detection of the disease and find novel therapeutical approaches.
