Dr. Roland Beisteiner is specialist in Neurology and Psychiatry with specific expertise in functional neuroimaging.
He is founder and chair of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping Alpine Chapter (OHBM Alpine Chapter) and the Austrian fMRI Society.
As a clinician he has a longstanding expertise in translational research, focusing on how to improve individual diagnostics and therapy of disorders of the nervous system and how to define most reliable brain activations in pathological brains.
He provides one of the largest bodies of research about clinical fMRI in individual patients. This includes pioneering work about definition of most reliable brain activations in distorted brains, multicentric clinical studies, ultrahighfield clinical studies and multimethodological approaches (fMRI + MEG, fMRI + intraoperative validation).
In addition, expertise comprises international brain mapping education (courses, symposia) to further clinical distribution of the new techniques.
