Dr. Juan Fortea is a behavioral neurologist, Director of the Memory Unit at Hospital of Sant Pau and founding Director of the Alzheimer Down Unit at the Catalan Foundation for Down Syndrome in Barcelona. His work centers on biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease tracking in Alzheimer’s disease.
He leads multiple international research projects and has authored more than 280 peer-reviewed publications. He serves on several scientific committees, including the Jerome Lejeune Foundation and the Trisomy 21 Research Society, and is former Chair of both the Down Syndrome PIA of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Behavioral Neurology and Dementia Study Group of the Spanish Neurological Society.
