Charlotte Teunissen, PhD
Professor in Neurochemistry at VUmc

The Neurochemistry Laboratory of VUmc aims at developing biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Teunissen and her team generate biomarkers to improve biological diagnosis, therapy development and monitoring of disease progression.

Their strategy is to address the whole workflow from identification of candidate biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid or blood, assay development and finally clinical implementation.

They envision that interaction with all stakeholders in this process leads to the best solutions for relevant unmet medical needs and increases their understanding of neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.

Dr. Teunissen current major disease topics are dementias and Multiple Sclerosis.
