TRAINING UNIT
The training of professionals, family members, caregivers and society in general is one of the complementary activities carried out by the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona. Every unit at Ace carries out initiatives to train and provide support to people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
Children and adolescents are indirect recipients of a disease that affects people who are very important to their emotional development (grandparents and/or parents). With this program—delivered in schools and aimed at children and adolescents aged 6 to 14, the goal is to ensure they are informed and prepared for Alzheimer’s disease.
*This program is available in Catalan only.
Every two years, we organize the Barcelona–Pittsburgh Conference together with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Since 1998, we have worked to deliver a high-quality conference that meets the following objectives:
- Bring together a panel of speakers with recognized national and international scientific prestige.
- Develop a program that is innovative and engaging.
- Create an interactive space focused on clinical and applied neuroscience, with the ultimate goal of benefiting patients and their families.
Over the years, the Barcelona–Pittsburgh Conference has become a leading meeting in the field of dementias.
This conference is intended not only for neuroscience specialists, but also for all professionals involved in dementia care, both from a medical and a health and social care perspective.
More than 300 dementia professionals from 18 nationalities participated in the three sessions of the Ace Global Research Summit 2021.
Twelve top experts in the field of dementia, such as Victor Luis Villemagne from the University of Pittsburgh; Henrik Zetterberg from the University of Gothenburg (Switzerland); and Tony Wyss-Coray from Stanford University (United States), have shared advances in their areas of expertise and have discussed the research they are conducting with attendees.
“The first edition of the Global Research Summit has been a success, and we are convinced that the format should be repeated next year. Having time to discuss and exchange ideas with the speakers has been the backbone of the enriching discussions generated during the sessions,” explains Dr. Ruiz, the organization’s Scientific Director.
In 2018, we established an affiliation agreement with Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) to promote joint initiatives in education and research on Alzheimer’s disease.
Main objectives:
- Coordinate educational activities for specialized training.
- Promote collaboration in research on Alzheimer’s disease.
- Strengthen healthcare initiatives to improve patient care.
Take part in our events
Throughout the year, we hold professional meetings that promote the knowledge exchange, international collaboration and commitment to biomedical research.
Our events are intended to bring experts, scientific institutions and key stakeholders in the sector together, creating a space for dialog, innovation and action.
We invite you to join these initiatives that truly make a difference.
