Training course "Dementia: do you want to know more?"

Fundació ACE gave on February a new edition of the training course "Dementia: do you want to know more?" to volunteers of Amics de la Gent Gran. The training, that took place on February 1st and 8th, focused on the features of neurodegenerative diseases associated with aging, and on the tools to perform a good accompaniment to people with cognitive impairment.

The course, given periodically by Pilar Cañabate and Anna Gailhajenet, from Fundación ACE, is recognized by the Volunteer Training Plan of Catalonia and consists of two sessions of 4 hours each. The training deals with key aspects in the approach to dementia such as the initial symptoms of this type of diseases, the psychological repercussions on the patient, strategies to manage the behavior of the affected person and how to motivate them, among other topics.

Amics de la Gent Gran is a non-profit entity with the aim of fighting against loneliness and marginalization to which thousands of elderly people are exposed, by giving emotional accompaniment and raising awareness about this issue.
