The project "Sails for Alzheimer's" has been presented
On Wednesday, 13th October 2021, the project "Sails for Alzheimer's" has been presented at the “Salón Náutico” the Barcelona Boat Show. This is a solidarity initiative that promotes activities at the sea for people with Alzheimer's, their families and carers.
América Morera, deputy director of the Day Care Unit at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, says “we are very excited about the project. Having the possibility of going abroad after a long confinement is very positive for users. In addition, promoting group cohesion and socializing through a unique and different activity will benefit both our users and their caregivers and families”.
"Sails for Alzheimer's" will take place during the last months of this year. It will begin in November with a trip in Golondrinas and will continue with a visit to the Llotja de Mar and the Museu Marítim. The activities are scheduled to end with a sailing trip during the months of January and February 2022.
A non-profit initiative
"Sails for Alzheimer’s" is a non-profit association that promotes activities related to the sea for people with Alzheimer's, family members and caregivers with the aim of improving their quality of life. These are not isolated activities, but aimed at raising awareness about Alzheimer's and the importance of research to find a treatment.
