The Carer’s Card comes into force

The Barcelona City Council and organisations dedicated to dementia, among others, have been working, and as a result of this work the Carer Card has been created.

The Carer’s Card comes into force

Barcelona as a city that cares for and supports people with dementia and their carers. This is the premise on which the city council and dementia-focused organisations, among others, have been working, and which, as a result of this reflection, has led to the creation of the Carer Card.

Below, we outline all the advantages of this new service promoted by Barcelona City Council:

What is the Carer’s Card?

The Carer Card is promoted by the Barcelona City Council and will offer a range of services and programmes for carers in Barcelona. This Card allows:

    • The identification of all carers, both those with a family connection and those who are paid for their care.
    • The provision of relevant and personalised information to carers.
  • Access to services, especially for those who need to improve their wellbeing.
  • Facilitate contact between carers to share a similar experience.
Who can get the Carer’s Card?

Anyone who provides care for another person due to illness or disability in Barcelona.

Caregivers who are in a vulnerable situation or experiencing overload are taken into account; in such cases, more specific benefits and allowances are provided to meet their needs.

Where can it be obtained?

The Carer Card is free of charge and can be obtained via this form on the Barcelona Cuida website.

For those who wish to apply in person, this can be done at the Barcelona Cuida Space and at all Vila Veïna zones.

What services does the Carer Card offer?
  • Personalised information and guidance on resources and services.
  • Organisation of specific activities on topics of interest to carers.
  • Telephone and online advice service, as well as guidance on care.
  • Information, advice and support with employment or employment rights.
  • Access to specific services such as hospitals, pharmacies, libraries, sports centres or municipal markets.
  • Access to leisure activities.
