The Alzheimer’s Solidarity Puzzle

On December 2, during the celebration of the 6th edition of La Nit de l’Alzheimer, Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona presented the Trencaclosques de l’Alzheimer, a work of art in solidarity in favor of Alzheimer’s research.
The young plastic artist Albert Llobet signs this work formed by 100 unique pieces that, together, form a puzzle that evokes neuronal connections.
Each piece is exclusive, numbered and different from the others. The pieces have one color when exposed to natural light and a completely different color when exposed to violet light.
This work of art is currently on display at the Ace Alzheimer Center headquarters and anyone who wants to contribute to Alzheimer’s research can purchase one of the pieces for €300 through the website acebarcelona.org
Starting next month, the pieces will be sent to their buyers with an elegant stand to display the piece.
In the words of Dr. Mercè Boada, the purpose of this work of art is that, once a cure for Alzheimer’s is found or a significant advance is made in the knowledge of this dementia, the pieces will come back together as a symbol of solving the puzzle.

Albert Llobet creates a unique work for Alzheimer’s

Albert Llobet Portell is the young artist who created the “Alzheimer’s Puzzle” for Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona.
Born in Figueres, he studied at the ELISAVA school in Barcelona where he decided to dedicate himself entirely to plastic art. He spent several stays in the United States and the United Kingdom. At his age, he has already exhibited his work in several galleries in the United States and Puerto Rico and is beginning to stand out in the Asian market by participating in one of the most important art fairs in China, ART PLUS Shanghai ’19.
In Llobet’s words, the inspiration to create this work came to him when investigating the universe related to the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. “I discovered an image that was a trigger for the composition of the work in which you could see the neuronal connections through the colors. That was what inspired me to create the Alzheimer’s Puzzle.”
