
Neurologist. She holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and a PhD in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with a thesis focused on dysphagia in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease and its relationship with voice and writing impairments.
She completed her specialist training at Bellvitge University Hospital and further specialized in movement disorders as an attending physician in the Movement Disorders Unit at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, as well as through stays at centers of excellence in the United States.
She worked as an attending physician at Mataró Hospital from 1996 to 2024, focusing on neurodegenerative diseases, including both movement disorders and cognitive impairment and dementias. Since September 2024, she has been Head of the Diagnostic Unit at Ace.
She served as secretary of the Catalan Society of Neurology and the Spanish Movement Disorders Group. She has co-authored more than 70 scientific articles, presented at national and international conferences, and authored 8 book chapters. She is also a contributor to the Clinical Guidelines for the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and Dystonia by the Spanish Society of Neurology, as well as the Manual for the Management of Dystonia published by the Ministry of Health.
She is a member of Spanish and international scientific societies and related study groups in her field, including the European Network in Huntington’s Disease, the International Parkinson Disease Genetic Consortium (IPDGC), and the Pick’s International Consortium.
She has participated as a researcher in projects on dysphagia in neurodegenerative diseases (both Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s), on monitoring devices in Parkinson’s disease, and on genetics in Parkinson’s disease and early-onset parkinsonisms.
She has taught in PhD, postgraduate, and Master’s programs at the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and Tecnocampus Mataró (affiliated with Pompeu Fabra University). She has also taught Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Nursing degree and Neurological Pathology in the double degree in Physiotherapy and Physical Activity and Sport Sciences until the 2023–24 academic year.
She is currently a lecturer in the subject “From Cognitive Normality to Dementia” in the Medicine degree at UIC.
