Martin Tolar, MD, PhD

Dr. Tolar is the Founder, President, and CEO of Alzheon, established in 2013, and a seasoned biotechnology executive with a track record of building and leading innovative life sciences companies. He previously served as President and CEO of Knome, Inc. and NormOxys, Inc., and as Chief Scientific and Business Officer at CoMentis, Inc., where he advanced the first clinical-stage beta secretase inhibitor platform for Alzheimer’s disease and secured a major collaboration with Astellas Pharma.

Earlier, he held senior clinical development and business leadership roles at Pfizer, contributing to significant transactions and guiding programs through FDA approval. Dr. Tolar began his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Yale University School of Medicine, trained in neurology at Boston Medical Center, earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience for research on apolipoprotein E in Alzheimer’s pathogenesis, and received his M.D. from Charles University in Prague. He also founded the International Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Center and Tolion Health, Inc., and has received international recognition for his leadership in Alzheimer’s research and drug development.
