Prof. Margaret Flanagan, MD
Associate Professor of Pathology and Neuropathologist at the Biggs Institute, UT Health San Antonio

She is affiliated with UT Health San Antonio at the Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, where she serves as a board-certified neuropathologist and physician-scientist. She currently leads the Neuropathology Core at the South Texas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), is Co-Director of the Brain Bank at the Biggs Institute, and serves as Medical Director of a CLIA-certified biomarker laboratory.

Her research focuses on TDP-43 proteinopathy and mixed pathologies, as well as the development of digital pathology and large-scale data harmonization. She leads NIH-funded federated digital pathology initiatives across multiple ADRCs. In addition, she is Director of the Nun Study and is nationally recognized for her contributions to neuropathology standardization and data integration.
