Artificial intelligence program

TARTAGLIA

The Tartaglia Project aims to boost clinical research through artificial intelligence applied to real patient data, improving diagnosis, prognosis, and quality of life in diseases such as Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, and complex chronic conditions.

The Tartaglia Project is a pioneering initiative led by GMV and formed by a consortium of 16 healthcare and technology entities. It receives support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (Next Generation).

The main objective is to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to address key challenges in medicine. Additionally, it aims to accelerate clinical research through a federated network that allows for the secure sharing of clinical data, while preserving its privacy and confidentiality.

At Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, we are leaders in Alzheimer’s research and play a prominent role within the project. We are working to identify speech parameters capable of early detecting individuals at higher risk of developing the disease.

How will Tartaglia achieve its objective?

Specifically, to achieve this, we use innovative and simple protocols that can be applied in just a few minutes with digital devices such as tablets or mobile phones. This allows us to collect samples of spontaneous language and analyze them with advanced voice processing technology. Thanks to this process, we can generate automatic indicators of great scientific value that are key to the early detection of Alzheimer’s.

Unquestionably, this approach is made possible by the collaboration between professionals from various disciplines and the technological support of Accexible. In this way, we can expand and enrich the patient sample. We plan to assess more than 1,500 people, some on multiple occasions, to monitor and identify subtle signs of cognitive decline.

Finally, thanks to Tartaglia, Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona has the necessary financial, technological, and human resources to drive a project of this magnitude. Thus, we reaffirm our commitment to research, innovation, and improving the quality of life for individuals.

About TARTAGLIA

The TARTAGLIA project, a federated network to accelerate the application of AI in the Spanish healthcare system, was created with the aim of breaking down the data silos of healthcare centers through the creation of a federated learning network that allows for the sharing of this information while preserving its privacy and confidentiality, in order to jointly develop an AI model. The main challenge of TARTAGLIA is to create an ecosystem that channels research activities and enables the development of AI tools on data in a collaborative and secure way, establishing a federated network as a key factor to contribute to and benefit from data banks.

The Federated Artificial Intelligence Network Project for Accelerating Health Research (TSI-100205-2021-5) has been funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service through the 2021 Artificial Intelligence R&D Missions Programme, within the framework of the Spain Digital 2025 Agenda and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, with European funding through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
