FACEmemory
Improve the quality of life of people who want to carry out a memory review through a rapid, non-invasive, painless test that they can do from home.
The FACEmemory ® project was born with the aim of facilitating the early detection of memory problems and cognitive impairment, key factors in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer ‘s. It is the first online memory test, self-administered and with voice recognition, scientifically validated in a memory unit. Its innovative character lies in accessibility: anyone over 50 years old can do it from home with a computer or a tablet with a good internet connection. In addition, it is available in Spanish, Catalan and English so that the person can answer in their mother tongue or in what they feel most comfortable.
The tool allows early identification of memory alterations that may be associated with mild cognitive impairment (CLD), a stage prior to dementia in many cases. To validate its clinical utility, the project combines the use of FACEmemory ® with a complete evaluation in the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona Diagnostic Unit, which includes a neurological exploration and the neuropsychological battery NBACE. The data obtained is analyzed using machine learning models, which allows distinguishing between cognitively healthy people and those at risk of cognitive impairment
Since its online implementation, more than 8.000 people have completed the test from 54 different countries, detecting possible signs of cognitive impairment in 26% of cases. Most users come from Spain, which reflects the growing acceptance of the tool as a digital screening resource in our environment. These results support the potential of FACEmemory ® as an effective, economical and scalable instrument to optimize early detection, both in the general population and in primary care contexts.
The scientific and social impact of the project is relevant. By offering a free, brief and non-invasive test, FACEmemory perfil is emerging as a secondary prevention strategy, which can improve the quality of life of thousands of people and optimize the use of health resources. In addition, the international dimension of the project, together with Ace’s clinical and research experience, reinforces its value as a pioneering tool in the early detection of Alzheimer’s.
