International experts analyze the new biomarkers transforming Alzheimer’s detection

Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona will hold the second session of the Global Research Summit 2026 next Thursday, July 16, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., under the title Next Generation Biomarkers for AD.

The meeting will bring together international specialists to analyze how next-generation biomarkers are transforming the detection, interpretation, and monitoring of Alzheimer’s disease across its various stages.

The session will address the potential of biomarkers found in blood and other biological fluids to improve diagnosis, anticipate disease trajectory, and monitor progression. Discussions will also cover the criteria required to facilitate their incorporation into clinical practice, as well as the impact of age and brain aging on their interpretation—a particularly relevant issue to avoid imprecise results in elderly individuals.

The event will feature:

  • Charlotte Teunissen, Professor at the Neurochemistry Laboratory at Amsterdam UMC and Principal Investigator at Amsterdam Neuroscience.
  • Thomas K. Karikari, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh.

The discussion will be moderated by Amanda Cano, Head of the Molecular Biology and Biomarkers Program at the Research Unit of Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona.

The session will take place online, in English, and is free to access upon prior registration through Ace Academy. To ensure proper viewing of the sessions and access to all content from the Global Research Summit 2026, participants must select the option “I am a healthcare professional” under the “Professional Profile” section when completing the registration form.
