A delegation from the management team of Geoje-si Hospital, in South Korea, visits Ace Alzheimer Center to exchange knowledge about the early detection of dementia.
International cooperation to promote early detection of dementia
Two weeks ago, at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, we received a visit from a Korean delegation from the management team of the Geoje-si Hospital (South Korea). The main purpose was to exchange knowledge and show the Geoje-si Hospital team how Ace deals with the challenges of dementia.
According to recent data, there are already 750,000 people diagnosed with Alzheimer's in South Korea and they could exceed one million by 2030. These figures pose important challenges for the future, both for their hospital centers and for everything that involves research and tracking of people with cognitive impairments still undiagnosed.
In this sense, the most relevant aspects for the management team of the Geoje-si Hospital include the prevention of dementia and the early detection of any type of cognitive deterioration, issues for which Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona recommends promoting social detection initiatives early warning and social awareness about the signs of dementia, as well as the advantages of obtaining a timely diagnosis.
