This year, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ace’s Day Hospital on Taquígraf Garriga Street, a space that has supported people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as their families, for two decades.
Beyond the anniversary itself, this milestone represents twenty years of commitment to a specialised care model that has made Ace’s Day Hospital a reference centre. Today, it is the only facility in Spain dedicated specifically to the care of people with early-onset dementia, a condition that involves unique healthcare, social and family needs. Since its opening, the Day Hospital has been much more than a care service.
It has become a space for stimulation, support and well- being, where participants can maintain their autonomy, engage in therapeutic activities and continue developing their life projects in an environment tailored to their needs. In 2025, 85 people received care at Ace’s Day Hospital, taking part in cognitive stimulation programmes, therapeutic activities and socialisation spaces designed to preserve quality of life and promote well-being.
“When we launched this project, we were convinced that people with early-onset dementia needed resources adapted to their specific reality. Twenty years later, we remain committed to the same goal: providing specialised, person-centred and compassionate care.”
Mercè Boada, co-founder of Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona.
This journey has been made possible thanks to the dedication of the professionals who have worked at the centre over the years and, above all, the trust of the people receiving care and their families, who have been part of this shared story. Celebrating these 20 years is an opportunity to look back with pride, but also to continue moving forward.
Because behind every activity, every programme and every innovation lies the same mission: putting people at the centre and continuing to improve care for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Thank you to everyone who has made these 20 years of shared commitment possible.
