
Dr. Victoria Fernández holds a degree in Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Girona.
In 2014, she began her career as a researcher at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, and then in 2015, she began her postdoctoral studies at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.
From 2020 to 2023, she held the position of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Her research interests focus on understanding the genetic and biological causes of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic targets.
As a postdoctoral researcher at WUSM, her work has focused on the analysis of whole-exome sequencing data to identify new risk and protective factors for Alzheimer’s disease. She is co-author of more than 70 scientific articles, some of which have been presented at national and international conferences.
Since 2023, she has been leading the Genetics Program at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona.
