He holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Seville (2013-2017) and a Master’s degree in Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Seville (2017-2018). He is currently undertaking a PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Barcelona. He joined Ace in 2018, where he has been a researcher and PhD student since 2021. His main research lines include the application of alternative genetic approaches (ROHs, loss of the Y chromosome) in the study and discovery of risk factors for Alzheimer’s, the use of typical methods (GWAS) for the discovery/validation of risk factors for rarer diseases (progressive supranuclear palsy and frontotemporal dementia), and multi-omic approaches for the detection of cryptic patterns in the biochemical composition of cerebrospinal fluid. He coordinated the recruitment and GWAS for PSP/DEGESCO and currently coordinates the logistics for the Spanish-level frontotemporal dementia GWAS in collaboration with DEGESCO. Another of her interests is Oxford Nanopore sequencing, where she developed the technique for ultra-sequencing the APOE gene at ACE and the analysis of quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in omics data.
