Ace strengthens its international presence with three oral presentations at the AD/PD 2026 conference

Three researchers from the genetics team at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona will present their work at AD/PD 2026, one of the most important international scientific conferences in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.

The scientific work carried out at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona will be presented at the AD/PD™ 2026 International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases, one of the most prestigious international conferences dedicated to research into neurodegenerative diseases. At this year’s conference, three researchers from  Ace’s genetic team, Claudia Olivé, Alejandro Valenzuela and Raquel Puerta, have been selected to deliver oral presentations, one of the most prominent forms of scientific participation at the congress. The selection of these presentations reflects the relevance and quality of the research carried out at Ace, and places the centre amongst the groups actively contributing to the advancement of international knowledge on Alzheimer’s.

The AD/PD, one of the most influential conferences on neurodegeneration

The AD/PD Conference regularly brings together thousands of international researchers, clinicians and experts to present the latest scientific advances in the study of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.  The 2026 edition will be held in Copenhagen (Denmark) and provides a key platform for sharing new scientific discoveries, discussing the biological mechanisms of these diseases and exploring innovative strategies for their diagnosis and treatment. Participation in such international forums helps to raise the profile of the scientific work being carried out in research centres around the world and to foster collaboration between international teams.

Three oral presentations highlighting the work of Ace’s genetics team

Oral presentations are one of the most significant forms of scientific participation at international conferences. Papers presented in this format are selected following a competitive scientific evaluation process from among submissions sent by researchers from around the world. In this context, the presence of three researchers from the same Ace research team highlights the strength and international standing of the centre’s genetics group. The research presented by Claudia Olivé, Alejandro Valenzuela and Raquel Puerta will help to expand our understanding of the genetic factors involved in neurodegenerative diseases and the biological mechanisms that influence their development.

  • Alejandro Valenzuela: Exome-wide rare variant analysis provides pathogenic links between progressive supranuclear palsy and parkinson disease
  • Claudia OlivéLong runs of homozygosity association with alzheimer’s disease
  • Raquel Puerta: Uncovering potentially causal protein mechanisms in neurodegeneration through csf proteogenomics

Genetic research to advance our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease

Genetics has become one of the key areas for gaining a better understanding of neurodegenerative diseases. The study of genetic factors enables the identification of biological processes involved in the origin and progression of Alzheimer’s and opens up new avenues for the development of diagnostic and treatment tools. The Ace genetics team works on the analysis of large genomic databases and patient cohorts, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that influence the risk and progression of the disease. Participation in international scientific conferences such as AD/PD 2026 forms part of Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona’s commitment to research excellence and to generating scientific knowledge that contributes to improving our understanding of and approach to Alzheimer’s disease.
