Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona is pleased to announce our participation in the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® Neuroscience Next (AAIC Neuroscience Next), an international event noted for promoting emerging talent in the field of neuroscience and dementia.

This year, the conference will be held in a hybrid format from 24-27 February, free of charge, allowing researchers, clinicians and professionals from all over the world to participate. The peculiarity of this edition is that one of the participating hubs is located in Barcelona, specifically at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona (143 Casanova Street).

Its focus is therefore on the latest innovations in neurodegenerative disease research, with a special emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Featured Sessions

During the AAIC Neuroscience Next conference, key topics that are redefining the landscape of neuroscience research will be addressed, such as:

  • New biomarkers in early detection of Alzheimer's disease: Researchers will share recent advances in biomarkers such as pTau181, which are revolutionising the early detection of the disease.
  • Neuroinflammation and its therapeutic implications: Experts will explore the role of neuroinflammation in the development of Alzheimer's disease and how this knowledge can be translated into innovative therapeutic strategies.
  • Progress in neuroimaging: The latest neuroimaging techniques that facilitate a deeper understanding of neurodegenerative processes will be presented.

Ace will be represented by Josep Blázquez-Folch, data research scientist, who will focus on automatic speech analysis for detecting cognitive impairment, and how this accessible and non-invasive tool can aid in the detection and monitoring of Alzheimer's disease.

Ace's commitment to innovation

Our participation reinforces our commitment to scientific excellence and international collaboration. Josep Blázquez-Folch stresses that "AAIC Neuroscience Next represents an excellent opportunity to present the latest technological advances in our computational speech analysis protocol".

He also stresses that "at Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona we have implemented an innovative methodology that, through speech analysis, allows us to identify the different stages of Alzheimer's disease, assess the degree of cognitive impairment in various functions and predict the positivity of cerebral amyloid, an essential marker of the pathology".

A must-attend event for the scientific community

The virtual format of AAIC Neuroscience Next allows participants from all over the world to join free of charge. In addition, sessions will include presentations, discussions and networking opportunities aimed at fostering future collaborations in the field of neuroscience.

Registration for the event is available through the official Alzheimer's Association website: https://www.alz.org/neurosciencenext/overview.asp

From Ace, we invite the entire scientific community, especially young researchers, to participate in this event and be part of the global advance in the understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
